How long does it take you to finish a project from beginning to end? I read this question today on another blog, can't remember whose, but I'm guilty of starting something and taking waaaay too long to finish it. Unless there's a deadline, I drag my sweet time getting to the end. So maybe it's a good thing that this ATC swap I joined last month has deadlines. Deadlines keep me grounded and as much as I don't like them, I'm grateful for them. Now, If only I could something about those unfinished projects. In the meantime if you view my profile, you can gain access to the ABC ATC blog I'm a part of.There you'll see the works of several artists who are very good about starting and finishing their projects. But I wonder if that's because there are deadlines to meet. Hmm...

Oh Linda, I am sooooo loving you atc's! I'm guilty of starting projects and not finishing them as WELL. But like you, if I have a deadline . . . things get finished. LOL
There is a reason for an unfinished project. Somewhere in the process something inside of you didn't like it.
Maybe you started the project for one reason and the process was what was important not the finished piece.
Sometimes we attempt to many different things and leave hardly any room or time in our schedule to finish something.
Sometimes we need the process of doing something like art just to allow our inner mind to mull on an issue our outer mind doesn't really even want to think about or acknowledge.
I've given up worrying about unfinshed projects. If I look at something like a unfinshed quilt top and I don't like it I don't make myself finish it I donate it.
If it's a painting I gesso over it and start anew.
If it's something that can be donated I donate it.
I just don't worry about it anymore, I remind myself that LIFE IS VERY SHORT. Remember the process is the journey, that's what is really important.
But, if you committed to a deadline, KEEP IT. Just don't over commit. :)Bea

Thanks, Sherry! I have to work on some ATCs to trade for the upcoming RSC in July! We'll have to do an early trade like we did last time, OK? I hope you're going!
Bea, what a well thought out comment. You've given me some stuff to think about that's for sure. I try not to overdo it because I want to have fun and not regret it. Thanks for your input.
Jolene, Mija, you are too much! I miss you and our little swaps. It seems like only yesterday. Where has the time gone? I know years have past cause my body feels it. LOL! Thanks for visiting! Oh, and yes, I did stitch directly onto the paper using my sewing machine! It's easy!
