Artventurous Xmas Tags

Stamps were carefully selected for my Xmas cards, er, Xmas tags attempt.

BLACK CHRISTMAS TAG? Sure, why not? I was thinking jewel tones, grunge, different. The blue tag looks lighter in this picture. It was actually a dark blue tone. I later painted a dark hunter green tag. I wanted the darkest green possible so I mixed Ebony and Christmas green together.

With a little extra color and stamped images, another look developed. Now what do you think of that black tag?

Fortunately, I had some left over art doll kits from previously held workshops. With a little glue and patience my tags were complete and ready for the post office.

I know what you must be thinking. "Those are Christmas cards?" Well, no but yes. They're Christmas cards ala Stampmaiden. I'm a lost soul when it comes to card making. Put a blank folded card in front of me and I don't know where to begin. I get a little further with a piece of cardstock because at least I know how to fold it in half. Sadly, that's as far as I get. I need direction when it comes to creating a card of any kind. BUT put a blank tag or blank ATC card in front of me and I get right down to business. Paint is something I feel very comfortable with and with little effort on my part, Christmas tags were created. A little stamping and embellishing was all that was needed to finish them off. Yes a little time consuming and different, but well worth the extra effort.

They look like the perfect Christmas cards to me!!!
The proces you explain looks similair to when I make a mandala. Give me a circle the rest will follow. Give me a blanco paper and I have a hard time before I get an idea.......

Linda I hope you will have a wonderful Xmas and a happy and healthy New Year with less worries and cares.

Thank you Lynn! It's good to "see" you too!
Christina, I do use a glue stick for anything paper but for fabric bits or hanging elements I use 3 in 1 clear glue by Beacon. It holds whatever you glue in place.
Marianne, they look like Christmas cards to me too! LOL! Is it OK to say we're both clueless when we work outside our element? And is that OK or should we be pushing our limits? sigh. I'm not ready for that. LOL!

Thank you Soul! It's beyond fabuloso (the spanish version of fabadabadoo!) to have extra time to myself. Sleeping in is the best especially during the cold season. I'm looking forward to the remaining days of 2009 and tamale making!

Thanks and welcome to Stampmaiden's Artventures, Mary Helen! And thanks for the compliment on my tags. I usually become attached to things I make but it felt good to send these tags off. Just knowing that they'll excite and surprise someone was worth letting them go. Hope to see you again!

Oh these are wonderful Linda, I just love them and so will the recipients I'm sure. I made a big collage this year then chopped it up to make cards and it worked pretty well. Your tags are a great idea. You can hang them on the Christmas Tree!
