TGIF

If anyone knew anything about explosive love, it would have to be Frida.

Evidence of playing with matches need not be burned. It played really well when paired with the stamped heart image, don't you think?

I repeated the heart image over the singed hole on the back side of the journal page. I added words, a saint and black bird to finish the page and a found floral element that I've been saving for almost 7 years was finally put to use!

I swear, I've never played with matches but as I watched my page go up in smoke I asked myself, "What took you so long?" I was in a bad mood and believe me, next time you head for the bottle (pills or liquid) go for the matches! You'll feel better in the end and you'll have a very unique piece of art.

My page had to air out for a couple days before I'd touch it. Unfortunately, singed pages smell like, well, fire. I applied a coat of champagne toned acrylic paint avoiding the scorched areas. A few extra details finished my journal page. Oh, and for the record, TGIF does NOT mean Thank God It's FIRE!!!

Thanks, Lisa! I kept visualizing a singed page and went for it. I'm happy with the results and plan on making more.
Christina, you are too funny my friend!

you literally turned a moment of passion into art--but, in that moment! for most people who try to do that so immediately, it could look like a five-year-old's art project. but this is truly beautiful:)

The pyromaniac in me smiles.

I love the look of burned paper too. I've found a way of cheating by using two different techniques - one with sandpaper and the other with ink pads. If you look at the "Fortune" ticket on "WICKED" - maybe you can see how I was going for the burned look.

I love everything about your journal page! The colors, the composition, all of it!

Propoquerian, thanks for the compliment and for visiting. I really enjoy this new form of play but I really have to be careful not to overdo it or I'll end up with a big mess on my hands!
Lynn, read the above! I love your cool comments about my hot art. LOL!
Thanks Jill! I'll have to go back to your blog to see the technique you used. Sounds interesting.
