Scorching Artventures
In between full moons and scorching temps, somehow I managed to complete a set of 8 postcards to send out. It was too hot to pay attention to the focus detail but a little fuzz never hurt anybody. Besides, I think it lends a little mystery to the scene.
Throughout the creating and completion of my recent postcard swap, I've come to one conclusion. I must really love what I do cause no matter how hot it is, I do it. Or do you think my brain was fried?
Our home was built during the 20s and over the years I suppose each homeowner didn't have enough cash flow to invest in an AC unit. We're one of them. Rarely does it reach 113 degrees so it makes sense to me to spend that money on other much needed items. Like, you know, rubber stamps. By the way, I forgot whose blog I was reading, the subject on rubber stamps came up and there was a question if rubber stamps are dead or something like that. Uh, I don't think so. Do you think I'm biased just cause I have a name like stampmaiden? Everything below was made using rubber stamped images. Another fuzzy shot with a mysterious feel, I'm afraid. But so appropriate considering the subject matter, don't you think?
During the heat wave I looked forward to early mornings just to cool down. And one morning as I opened the kitchen blinds, I caught a glimpse of this beautiful moon. White looks so much better against a pitch black background, but I found that periwinkle blue and white can work equally well together. And with the sun on the opposite side of the house, this was such a wow factor for me.

I L.O.V.E. your ATCs, as usual! Your ability to make such a strong statement in such a small piece of art never fails to amaze me Mija!
I also L.O.V.E. the pic of the full moon, and seeing the wonderful architecture of your L.A. hood homes.

Hi Jolene! I participated in a postcard swap this time around. I was lucky to have so much space to work on for a change. Glad you liked the cards! And my hood!
I don't think of rubber stamps as being dead. I think they are part of the artist worktable. Just like paint and brushes and the texture tools. Sometimes you use one thing, sometimes another, it's all good.

Bea, no more worries about the heat. I woke up to a wet and slightly chilled morning. Drastic contrast compared to last Monday. Ditto about rubber stamps!
Oh I would just fry in that heat Linda. I couldn't survive! I love your postcards. The photo of the moon is also fabulous, kind of ethereal. You are such a talent!
