Winter Artventures

I continue to recycle Christmas cards to add visual impact on the pages of my journal.

The top and lower border on the page below came from a card with a scene of the manger. Notice the donkey looking over my page? LOL!

When I find interesting images in magazines I rip them out and save them in my "one day" baggie. That's where I found "Mother Karma's" eye.

My son and daughter-in-law took a trip to Olvera Street and look what they brought me!! Aren't they cute!! Just think, in another 11 months they'll be hanging on my Christmas tree. Wow.

It's supposed to be winter and I'm not trying to rub it in when I say the daily temperatures in Los Angeles have been in the mid to upper 70s but it does get cold at night. Well, somewhere in the low 60s. I think. Again, not trying to rub it in! It's during the cold of the night when I can be found sitting at my table cutting, gluing, searching for the right words and getting busy in my winter journal. It is after all a winter journal and the atmosphere has to feel just right.
My mission to be a more calm and stress less me continues. I feel a certain freedom to do what brings me joy rather than being tied down to my emotions. Can you tell?

Yes, all the pages are a delight and the cuttings from cards is very effective especially that donkey!
Cute trinkets for next years tree too!

Hi Lynn! Well, it's not so much my kids - one lives with us and the other one visits each weekend. LOL! Mother Karma knows who to deal with.
Thanks for visiting and stay warm.

Are your backgrounds acrylics?
And, what paper is that?
Doesn't it buckle?

Stampmaiden said...

La Poeta, the pages are painted with acrylic paints and the paper does not buckle. It's a wassau index paper at 130lb weight. It's very durable and holds color well. No bleeding or buckling whatsoever. Thanks for visiting!

All I can say is I love your journal pages. You don't looked tied down to anything to me. I would be tempted to tie those little ornaments to something I could see all year and not just have them out for christmas. They are darling. How thoughtful of your children to bring them to you. You will never be forgotten.

P.S. Your statement about cold nights gave me a chuckle this morning when it is -2 here. I realize it is all relative to where you live. Try to keep warm. tee hee...

Marianne, it's good to see you! Perhaps because I'm not putting pressure on myself to journal everything is falling into place. Knock on wood this continues. And I really love those ornaments!

Lisa, I've decided to keep my ornaments out all year! They'll be displayed where I can see them each day rather than once a year. It didn't take long for me to follow your suggestion!
Soul, I wish you could fly out here too. Thanks for the New Year's wishes. So far, so good!

I love your new stress less idea. I could do with having a go at that. I think it does show in your blog Linda. I'm glad for you too. I have just been looking through my Christmas cards and I never throw them away either! I love your journal pages. I don't think I'd know what to write each day.

Love to you.

Oh, those 2 chrismas ornaments are adorable. I'm not going to mention the weather here!!

I love the idea of using the Christmas cards for the cut out decorations...too bad my DH threw them all out this week - behind my back I might say.
I do love your journal, so creative.

BT, thanks for the compliments on my journal. What to write about? Whatever strikes your fancy or something that Buster or the felines did. Don't think too much about it. Your neighbors! That's a good one, huh?!

Thanks, Mim! Your husband's good if he can throw away Christmas cards without you seeing him! Happy New Year to you!
