Library Catalog Cards never looked so good. These were on their way to the dump until a light bulb went on.
It seems that not even a cake can escape me when it comes to color!
Beads in an array of color eagerly await the chance to dangle or wrap themselves around my wrist.
Here's another catalog card that almost got away. Here I tried a little graffiti background.
Even muted colors work as long as the subject stands out. This is a post card that I made one summer while exchanging them with Jolene from HippyHippyHooray . It's amazing what we sent off to each other that summer.
Purple and Pink and Ruby and Ochre and Blue and sigh, I could go on and on and on. While going through my files I discovered a few oldies but goodies splashed with color. Goes to show that "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" applies to my art style. That is, when it comes to vibrant shades and hues.
I once played in a group that altered withdrawn catalog library cards on their way to the dump. What an awesome idea to "play green" before "green" was more than just another beautiful color. I still have a decent supply of unadorned catalog cards if anyone would like to have some. I'll gladly mail them to you. Just send me a self-addressed stamped envelope. Oh and e-mail me so I can send you my address. It would be great to see what you create from your cards in the future whether you have a blog or not. Send me your links when your ready to show the world how you've altered your cards OR send me pics and I'll post them here on my blog. Hope there are some enthusiasts out there!

I love the idea of turning old items into something fun. What a great use of Library cards. You sent me some recently, when they surface from all the crap on my computer table I plan to do something with them, HONEST. :)
As summer is winding down around here I am trying to soak up as much color from the out doors as I can. I'm going to need it for inspiration when WINTER blows in.

Soul, the cake is an old favorite in my family and so delish. It's light and fluffy, not at all heavy. I want to see what you do with the catalog cards! The Frida cards were sent off years ago. Never hurts to ask!
Bea, I want to see what you do with your library cards as well. I hope you post them on your blog!
Sherry, it was my husband's bd two years ago when he was just 53! LOL!
I hope you'll be doing some art over a few catalog cards. How cool to feature a drawing over words. Wow. Instant background.
Jolene, sorry about goofing on your link! I'm glad you posted it here. The summer of the postcard was one of the coolest swaps I've ever participated in.

Oh Linda, I've just come back from the UK and, wow, yours is the first blog I'm catching up on. What an amazingly colourful post. Just fantastic. Love it. Those beads and those crazy library cards. I don't think we have them here or in the UK. I would love some. Let me know how much I should put on the envelope? Roughly? I can't use a USA stamp so I don't know what to do... Your art is astonishing. Beautiful. You'll love the colour of the bouncy castly Jack went on in my latest post, it's like pillar box red. Woweeee. Love n hugs from a soggy Ireland.
BT, I'll be sending you some cards from dry Los Angeles all the way to soggy Ireland. sigh. If only. My Naked Ladies, aka, Bella Donnas, did NOT bloom except for 1! They didn't receive the proper amount of water. I'll definitely remember that for next time around. Even if I have to drag water in a heavy pail from the faucet to the ground they're under, I'm gonna have to do it. They only bloom once a year during this time and I look forward to them and it was so disappointing to not have them around.
Linda
Wonderful pieces Linda!
Love the things you create!
wow - this is a feast for the eyes! love the cake, love all the color!
We have one of those old cabinets. My DB stores his slides in them. They are the perfect size for slides. After seeing these decorated cards it makes me think I could do some cards that go into the front gizmo that held the description of what was in the drawer. Hmmmmm....
Lisa, your husband is lucky to have a library catalog cabinet. The catalog cards are larger than the blank spots that are on front of the cabinet but you could cut them down and let the words describing the story show or peak through the art. Great idea!
